Trust Your Gut
Have you ever had a time in your life where you made a decision to do (or not do) something even though you had a feeling inside that you knew it was the wrong decision? There may have been a back and forth between two voices in your head. One saying, “This is not the right choice. You are going to regret it.” The second voice comes in louder and more persuasive saying, “It will be fine. Even if it doesn’t quite sit right, just do it. Other people think you should!” Low and behold the louder voice convinced the first voice to step aside. The decision was made and then a few days or weeks or months later, you came to regret it. And that first voice came back louder with a “I told you so!” and an eye roll.
I have found that listening to your gut and intuition is so very important. My intuition has a 95% accuracy rate and very rarely leads me astray. When I listen to it, it guides me to what lines up with my integrity and values. To learn to trust my gut, I often think about how decisions I am making based on that instinctual feedback line up with my values and beliefs. It’s kind of a litmus test for my intuition. Because most of the time, the gut instinct does line up with what I am passionate about and believe in.
So next time you are having a back and forth, think about what value or belief is being pressed up against. And see what decision would line up with staying true to those.
You got this!
