You can’t do it alone.
Once you realize that you can’t do it all by yourself, the easier it will be for you to move forward towards your dreams, visions and goals. The easier it will be for you to start seeking guidance from others. The easier it will be to succeed.
Support from others can come in so many forms- an ear to listen, a hand to hold, advice from their experience, edits to a paper, help building something or keeping you accountable to name a few.
So what stands in the way of us asking for support? Is it pride? Fear? Lack of trust in others? Self- Sabotage?
For me, what stood in the way was my ignorance about needing help. I grew up in athletics and I had coaches and teammates that I leaned on but for some reason, asking for support emotionally or mentally seemed different to me. I thought “I am an athlete, I don’t need help. I am tough.”
I was so wrong.
After coming to the realization that I needed something more, I went to a therapist and that changed my life. I started realizing that it is a sign of strength to go to therapy, a big shift from my mindset that it was weak. The self-care of going to therapy and realizing my schema and understanding why I act in certain ways and have certain beliefs has been a very important part of my growth, success and fulfillment.
Who do you lean on, depend on or go to when you need support? Is there something else you can be doing? Someone else you can be reaching to for guidance? A person or group of people that you can depend on? Can you reach out to a therapist, a life coach, a support group, a family member or a friend to seek more support?
Only you know who you need. Go find them.
